RANDOM THOUGHTS

For me, writing, directing, producing and starring in a short film was kind of “sure let’s do that and see how it goes” kind of thing. It was more of a learning experience and trying to get an idea out of my head that had been stuck in there for 4 years. When it was done I was really happy with it and thought I should let people see this by submitting to film festivals. And I was so amazed at everyone that helped me make sure that RANDOM not only got finished but was exactly how I had seen it in my head. For me that was a WIN of epic proportions, especially when so many dreamers, like myself, never start or finish a project.

When you’re a first time director you kind of go into the project with blinders on, just hoping that you are making the best decisions and that you can live with the bad ones. I’ve learned so much during this process, but the biggest lesson has been never direct yourself, especially if you’re half naked and covered in blood. But after 4 years of having this story in my head I decided enough was enough and I took pen to paper and brought these characters to life. With the help of my amazing friends and colleagues I feel that we accomplished what we set out to do. Tell a great story, visually and do it in a short amount of time.

I have been an actress, model, and producer for a while, so the leap to director seemed like a natural progression. I never once thought that I couldn’t do it and I was never told that I couldn’t do it. RANDOM premiered during a Directed By Women special event in Owensboro, KY on September 5, 2015. It has since gone on to be viewed at film festivals all over the globe, including Switzerland and the UK.

When RANDOM is accepted into festivals or wins any award it’s just icing on top of an already delicious cake.  To date, RANDOM has received the Spirit Award at Blaquefyre Independent Film Festival, Best Short Film and Best Actress at the Southwest Indiana Film Festival, and most recently is was nominated for Best Screenplay at The Alhambra Theatre Film Festival. As for me, I’ve continued to act, model, produce and I’m currently working on the script for my second film which I hope to shoot this summer.
